Read the following passage and choose the best answer to each question.
THE PLASTIC-FREE WEEK CHALLENGE
Last month, a youth environmental organisation invited residents of Brookfield to take part in a plastic-free week. The purpose of the challenge was to encourage people to avoid disposable plastic products and think more carefully about their shopping habits.
More than two hundred residents registered for the challenge. Participants carried reusable shopping bags, water bottles, lunch boxes and metal cutlery. They refused plastic straws and selected products with little or no plastic packaging. Several local cafés supported them by offering discounts to customers who brought their own cups.
The challenge was not easy for everyone. Some participants found it difficult to buy certain foods without plastic packaging. Others forgot to carry their reusable containers when leaving home. To solve these problems, the organisers created an online group where members shared advice and recommended environmentally friendly shops.
At the end of the week, participants had prevented thousands of plastic items from entering the waste system. More importantly, many residents continued their new habits after the challenge ended. The organisers concluded that a short community activity could encourage lasting changes in people's daily behaviour.
